Replacement trees for Balfour Avenue
Works to plant new trees on Balfour Avenue to replace the ones that were cut down to widen the road are due to start 10 Feb 2014.
Stage 8 of the Tour of Britain cycle race will come through Sutton Green, Westfield Common, Westfield, Kingfield and Old Woking on Sunday 16th Sep 2012 and will feature some of Team GB’s Olympic winning cycling team such as Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.
The race begins on Reigate at 12:00 noon and is expected to finish around 15:40 on Guildford High Street. The race will pass through our area around 13:00 to 13:30.
The race will move north from Jacobs Well, to Sutton Green, up New Lane, turning into Westfield Road before moving through Westfield, Kingfield and Old Woking before heading south to Guildford via Send as shown below:
A rolling road closure will be enforced resulting in a closure lasting between 15 to 30 minutes depending on how long the field to spread out at that point. A leading car starts the closure and the road reopens after the final car.
Aside from that certain clearways will be enforced to prevent parking on the roads for safety reasons. Our current understanding is that the roads marked orange below will be clearway status from approx 11:45 to 14:50ish on the race day. Affected households and residents will be notified.
Clearly parking for impacted households and visitors will be at a premium so you should expect some disruption prior and after the event passes through the area.
