WCRA Big Tidy Up – 1st Annual even a big success
Sunday 8th May 2011: A small army of 39 local volunteers turn up to make the Westfield Common Big Tidy a grand success.
WCRA have been able to make a sizeable charitable donation to the British Heart Foundation following our successful sale of goods from our stall at the Sutton Green Christmas Craft Fair held on Saturday 06th Dec.
Our intrepid volunteers sold a selection of seasonal goods for the home or garden that had been kindly donated to us. We managed to raise a grand total of £335.06 for the British Heart Foundation in remembrance of friends and family of WCRA members.
WCRA Chairman, Bill Corney, commenting on the effort said:
We at the WCRA have lost a number of great friends and family members to a variety of cardiovascular diseases over the last few years so I am pleased that we have been able to make this small tribute in their memory.
I would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work that made the charity sale a great success and Richard Leeming for the donation of the seasonal goods.
I would also like to thank all the locals who turned out to buy something from our stall. Great community spirit!
